Hello! I hope you are safe and well. My name is Alyssa Maymi and I am a rising junior at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. One of my passions is serving others. I am eager to tutor students in Chemistry, Spanish, English, Elementary Math, Pre Algebra, Algebra 1, and Trigonometry. In my experience as a prior substitute teacher and tutor, students would say I am patient, enthusiastic, and a great listener. Not only are great teaching skills essential to being a successful tutor, patience, empathy, and good listening skills are essential as well. Hence, I am able to gauge when students are tired or frustrated with learning certain parts of the course material and I welcome short breaks when they are necessary. Additionally, I am a tutor who values understanding of the course material. Instead of suggesting students memorize, I help them to comprehend what they are learning, and I encourage them to verbalize it to aid them in their understanding of course material.
